Day eighteen

A day of culture with a capital K!  We started, on a very unpromising day, with Sydney Cathedral.
Sydney Cathedral
Surprising to see this style of architecture still in Roman Catholic hands.
Interior
Then on to the Sydney Art Gallery.  After several rooms of European art and Australian versions of European art we found the Aboriginal Australian art section and were stunned. The images were very moving and the stories behind them captivating.

At lunch we spotted this very tame parrot.
Rainbow lorikeet
Then we walked out to Mrs MacQuarrie's chair - although we didn't sit on the chair - it was filled with tourists! The view across to the city and all its famous landmarks......
Cityscape
We then walked though the Botanical Gardens. Full of interesting and unusual plants.

Another plant
and for the first time a butterfly, settled on a flower - they never seem to stay in one place normally.
A butterfly the size of a small bird.
