Day twenty five

We are now in the Capertee Valley with no wifi and very poor reception.  But the Station Master's House is wonderful. Old and quirky, and decorated to match the building with very few modernisations. It is conveniently situated between the railway line and the highway but the trains don't stop and unfortunately neither do the the lorries. Road noise is a bit of an issue but we sleep through most of it.
House and car
The garden is full of shrubs and attracts a great variety of birds. These are Australian King Parrots and a group of them descended early in the morning.

As we have no wifi and no Optus mobile phone signal we headed in to Lithgow to get a SIM card for Telstra which does get reception but 2km away up the hill. As we were in that direction we decided to try to get to the Glow Worm Tunnel. This involved driving up in to the Wollemi National Park along gravel roads. It started very well.

  We saw some great wildlife....

But then the weather closed in, the mobile signal disappeared and so did the road surface. We were driving from, pot hole to pot hole, dodging and weaving and generally not having fun. The only glow worms we saw were on this sign.

So we returned home and photographed the birds in the garden and took a walk around the town, four houses, a pub and a closed petrol station. We did visit the old Station though.
